Notice of Availability of Draft Environmental Assessment and Section 4(f) Evaluation

Little Rock Port Authority
Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Radio Range Tactical Air Navigation Aid (VORTAC) Project
Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas

The Little Rock Port Authority (LRPA), in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), is providing an opportunity for a public hearing and providing public notice of the availability of the Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) and Section 4(f) Evaluation documents for the VORTAC project.

The LRPA plans to redevelop the current VORTAC site and adjacent properties and proposes to remove the existing VORTAC facility that is located on land owned by the FAA within LRPA operational area and construct a VORTAC facility in a new location east of Highway 440 and north of I-40 that is operationally compatible with FAA siting criteria.

A DEA is available for public review and comment. Also available is a Section 4(f) Evaluation because the project involves impacts to a site eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

A public hearing will only be held if requested. Those wishing to request a public hearing on the project must make their request by email or letter no later than Monday, June 6, 2022, which is 15 days after the publication of this notice.

In the event a request for a public hearing is made by the specified date, a Notice of Public Hearing will be published in this same newspaper. If a hearing is held, we will address the proposed action’s potential economic, social, and environmental impacts. In addition, we will address the project’s consistency with the goals and objectives of the affected area’s land use or planning strategy.

The draft EA and 4(f) documents are available for public review until Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the following location and website.
